Therapeutic Approaches

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the principle that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. This type of therapy helps clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to mental health issues, empowering them to develop healthier ways of thinking and coping.

  • The core principle of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is to help clients live meaningful and fulfilling lives by increasing psychological flexibility. This type of therapy will encourage clients to accept their thoughts and feelings, while also committing to actions that align with their values. It’s different from CBT in that ACT is less about trying to change our thoughts and more about changing how we relate to them.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) helps individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with distress in healthier ways. The four core skill modules are mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.

  • Solutions-Focused Therapy is a goal-oriented type of therapy that emphasizes finding practical, actionable solutions to current challenges. Rather than focusing on past problems or exploring the root causes of issues, this therapy is forward-thinking and concentrates on identifying strengths, resources, and solutions that can help clients overcome obstacles.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an approach designed to help individuals explore and resolve their ambivalence about behavioral change. The goal of MI is to enhance motivation, increase confidence, and strengthen commitment to change.

  • Systemic Therapy focuses on the dynamics and relationships within a person’s social system (family, friends etc.) rather than treating the individual in isolation. The key premise is that problems often arise from unhelpful interaction patterns within one’s system.

  • In therapy, a Positive Psychology approach helps you build on your strengths, develop positive habits, pursue meaningful goals, and create a more fulfilling life.
